April Mailout:
People whose memberships expire on June 30, 2006 will receive notification in late April. Again we request members to consider paying multiple years to help reduce the office overload. Some 4,000 memberships will have to be processed by early summer.

Please Note:
Some people accessing ARTA's Group Benefits (Johnson Inc.) have not joined our Association. You are reminded that in order to access Group Benefits you must belong to a "Group."
ARTA is well within its rights to deny group benefits coverage to persons not keeping their ARTA membership current.

P.I.A.:
I have been on a task force for Seniors' issues the past while. The acronym P.I.A. stands for Public Interest Alberta. More information on this advocacy group will be found on page 11 of this newsletter.

Opinion:
Now that the Federal election is over and Calgary has replaced Toronto as the centre of our universe, we will be hearing much more about the "third way" for providing medical services.

This way will be NO WAY to serve the health needs of Seniors and other Albertans.

Filing 2005 Taxes
Members who are paying premiums to ASEBP or ARTA's Benefit Plan (Johnson Inc.) may claim this money on their tax return. Also, ARTA's membership fee is a deductible item if a member is accessing our Plan.

Actual Statements from Insurance Claims ...
I had been driving for forty years when I fell asleep at the wheel and had an accident.
An invisible car came out of nowhere, struck my car and vanished.
My car was legally parked as it backed into another vehicle.
I collided with a stationary truck coming the other way.
The guy was all over the road. I had to swerve a number of times before I hit him.
